Psalm 139:7 - Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?

- Our agenda, preferences, and perspective all get in the way, and we have blind spots.
- 1st Phrase: “Search me…”
- Search me = search thoroughly, to investigate deeply, even to probe
- Joshua 7:11 - “Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them with their own possessions.”
- Joshua 7:12 - “That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their backs and run because they have been made liable to destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy whatever among you is devoted to destruction.”
- Joshua 7:14 - “In the morning, present yourselves tribe by tribe. The tribe the LORD chooses shall come forward clan by clan; the clan the LORD chooses shall come forward family by family; and family the LORD chooses shall come forward man by man.”
2nd Phrase: “Know my heart…”
- Know = to know someone in the fullest sense, not just observe but to experience his inner life
- We must pursue a deep relationship with God - not for his sake to know us any better, but for our sake that he might reveal the things of our heart to us out of a place of relationship and trust with God.
- Challenge yourself to pursue a deep relationship with God and allow him access to the deep parts of your heart
3rd Phrase: “Test me…”
- Test = to examine, or try… often used in refinement.
- If you really desire for God to purify your heart, you can expect to go through hard things
- Psalm 66:10 (NLT) - 'You have tested us, O God; you have purified us like silver. '
