James 5:19-20 CSB - “My brothers and sisters, if any among you strays from the truth, and someone turns him back, let that person know that whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.”
The tension of wandering
Luke 15:18-19 (CSB) 'I’ll get up, go to my father, and say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. I’m no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired workers.”
As parents, we hope we taught them well to make the right decisions… when they don’t, it’s painful
“Mind your own business” culture
There is inconvenience and awkwardness in community… but there is also safety in accountability.
Galatians 6:1 (CSB) “Brothers and sisters, if someone is overtaken in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual, restore such a person with a gentle spirit, watching out for yourselves so that you also won’t be tempted.
“Restore… with a gentle spirit”
We must restore with love, patience, and humility.
